DOWNTOWN BBQS

Catalog: Smoking Woods

Why Choose Our Wood Chunks???

Our wood chunks are perfectly sized for kamado style cookers. Larger chunks last longer and retain more moisture for better flavor transmission during the smoke.

Our wood supplier does not ‘bake’ the wood and stores the wood in climate controlled warehousing to insure the highest moisture content throughout the production process.

The bourbon barrel chunks especially benefit from this process so the flavor of the original contents stays with the wood until you smoke with it.

We sell by weight because moisture content determines how much flavor you will get from the wood. Our supplier’s process allows for the maximum amount of moisture retention and therefore the maximum amount of flavor transfer during the cook.

Once you try our woods you will never buy from a *DEPOT or you local *Mart Super Centers again.

Wood is just as important an ingredient to your grilling and smoking success as the quality meat and spices you have chosen. Always use a quality smoking wood from your local BBQ store: Downtown BBQ’S!!!!

For folks with larger smokers, we offer 6” ‘mini-splits’ in Hickory, Apple and Orange woods.

We offer our Kamado sized chunks in Hickory, Apple, Orange, and Cherry.

We have, on a limited basis, Bourbon Barrel Wood chunks cut from the barrel staves used to age bourbon whisky. We always try to keep this wood type on hand but may periodically be out-of-stock due to the nature of the aging process at the distilleries.

Coming Soon: Kiawe smoking wood from Hawaii! Kiawe is a type of mesquite naturalized to the Hawaiian Islands.

We currently have a small quantity of white oak, post oak, peach, peachkot (a peach/apricot hybrid) and sassafras chunks while supplies last.
